How joining works!

After a person registers their interest, we arrange a time to contact them.

We offer a brief introduction meeting where we get to know the young person, explain how our sessions work, and answer any questions.

Once everyone feels comfortable, we ask for availability and match them with a suitable group slot.

We consider age, needs, interests, and session style like hobbies and interests to make sure they join a group where they’ll feel supported and able to thrive.

How each sessions looks

Each session takes place online in a supervised group setting, where young people join a structured and supportive environment built around age-appropriate multiplayer games. We choose games and activities that naturally encourage teamwork, communication, perspective-taking, and shared problem-solving. These include cooperative builds, strategy challenges, creative world-making, or narrative-based group tasks that get everyone interacting in meaningful ways.

During each session, a trained facilitator guides the group through planned activities. We introduce tasks, missions, or challenges designed to promote collaboration and positive social engagement. Throughout gameplay, the facilitator gently shapes the interaction using modern teaching strategies such as scaffolding, guided discovery, and modelling positive communication. These approaches help young people practise skills without feeling pressured or judged.

At key moments, we pause for short, structured reflection check-ins. These are brief conversations that draw on techniques from mindfulness, social-emotional learning frameworks, and cognitive-behavioural principles like noticing thoughts, recognising emotions, and understanding consequences. These reflections are kept light and accessible, helping young people build self-awareness and emotional understanding without being put on the spot.

Our structure is based on research that shows young people learn best through active participation, peer interaction, and cooperative goal-setting. Game-based learning and digital group formats have been shown to support social confidence, communication, and emotional development when properly facilitated. We use these evidence-informed ideas to design sessions that feel modern, fun, and genuinely relevant to their world.

Everything we do is intentional, safe, and designed to help young people develop social and emotional skills in a way that actually works for them.
